Subaru mulling expanding Indiana plant for Forester, Impreza

Autoblog -- Thanks to currency fluctuations and their impact on the bottom line, a growing number of Japanese automakers are starting to increase vehicle production in the US, and it appears Subaru could be the next to do so. According to Bloomberg, Subaru is looking into expanding production capacity at its Lafayette, Indiana assembly plant, which currently builds the Outback, Legacy and Tribeca as well as the Toyota Camry.

Subaru's Indiana plant currently has an annual maximum capacity of 310,000 units, but the automaker is expecting to far exceed that figure this year, with year-to-date sales of 299,788 units through November (not including Camry) – an increase of almost 30 percent over 2011.

Subaru mulling expanding Indiana plant for Forester, Impreza - when Japan's economy is worse than the USA, then you can make your vehicles in Indiana! Whatever it takes to get more jobs, Sneeky would not do that!
'Coming out of the closet' Sneeky's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Sneeky's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down! And, the mindless Sheep that voted him back into office are also to blame for this to continue to happen.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

If they are expanding production in the U.S. they are using U.S. labor.

Isn't it amazing that a company can actually manage money, production, labor and expand. What's wrong with Government Motors, and the other loser Chrysler? Bottom line, get rid of the unions.

Good for some workers, short term... but it's still a Japanese company and that's where the profits will end up.

I like hearing this news because my next vehicle was and will be a Subaru Forester. I want that AWD without paying through the nose.
