Wow, the panic, the shouts for protectionism.
Many of the so called supporters of capitalism and free market on this site are the same time not fans of the global economy fostered by the very system you claim to support. Many of you call your government "socialist" then you ironically advocate Protectionism in contradiction the certain principles of capitalism. THINK!
Did you expect the world would just set by and let U.S. stay superpower forever? Who was advocating progress and is now left behind?
The renewable energy technology as CruisinLinda pointed out is spreading.
Making renewable energy technology cheaper and more competitive should not be derided but encouraged. Rise up and met the global market challenge, complaining and isolating yourselves with protectionism can often have unintended and at times disastrous circumstances in a global economy.
As the articles said:
"Putting a moratorium on wind projects could have the unintended consequence of making your market less stable and slowing the growth in employment,"

Speaking of Chinese dumping. I just assembled a new Sears Kenmore grill that was purchased for Xmas. It had been ordered online and picked up at a local Sears store. Immediately upon opening the carton, I realized something was drastically wrong. Opened the instructions and tried to start the first step of assembly. I could not locate half the parts because nothing in the carton was labeled with part names or numbers. Plastic wheels were inside a food storage container that was inside an unmarked cardboard box. What should have been a 20 to 30 minute assembly turned into 3 hours. The hardware was extremely cheap, fit was poor, stainless steel hood was poorly formed. Black painted metal parts had rough and sharp edges with an uneven paint finish. The one part that explained it all was the lower front cover that had the only label on the back side. It read "Made in China"!!! Thanks Sears for following Uncle Wally's lead and also GE's. Don't lower your prices, just maximize your profits and stick it to us all.
Good luck to any wind power farms in the USA or around the world that gets more true Chinese JUNK!

Like this is new? They have always done this and will continue to do this. They are protecting their own economy. Our government needs to wake up, not likely to happen with the spend happy group we have now though.

Every day the world gets smaller and smaller so there is no sure way to label a product as being from only one country. The important thing is that wind turbines are becoming more plentiful.

When dealing with China and when coming to an agreement with them, our country (and any / every country) has to devise a PLAN B, C, D, and E in the event that China does not live up to their end of the bargain. China is in such powerful positions in almost every aspect of the World Economy. That's the way the U.S. used to be viewed by many, and still are by some.

Chinese dumping of wind power hardware. They have a glut because of insufficient grid.
And we have the same problem in the US.
A rush to generation with little attention to the grid.

Chinese companies go to Texas to learn. All they want to do is sell their cheap products to the U.S. and Chinese markets.

The Chinese can only be trusted to do whatever it takes to boost their own economy and to hell with the rest of the world. It's the primary means they have for keeping their people from revolting at the lack of political freedom.

How long will the China made wind turbines last in the US? Will the turbines fall apart after so many hours of use? The cost to maintain the wind turbines might out cost to build them.

I am glad that we have people monitoring this. We are continually reminded that we exist in a global economy; however, I suggest that we not continue to fill the coffers of a nation that: a) already has attained billions of US dollars, b) holds US loans for billions more, c) has the worlds largest national population, and d) has military might. Let's remember the wise words of that great American President, Ronald Reagan: "Trust, but verify."

During the "Cold War" with Russia, fearful of a Soviet invasion, the popular mantra was, "Better dead than Red."
I guess our philosophy has changed to "It's mellow to be Yellow!"
Better brush up on your Mandarin so you're ready for the Chinese takeover of America.

I knew it! We are building windfams with the Chineese. I am sure the generators are being produced in China and not by US labor, while, at the same time we send the bluprints for the technology over to them. The Obama administration talks the talk, but when it comes to walking the walk he is out of touch and FUBAR.

Manufacturing industries have been moving to China. China has been buying up the US debt. China is becoming more of a resource user. Could China surpass the United States as the leading superpower and consumer of the worlds goods? Scary
