Quebec open to oil pipeline project

The Gazette -- Quebec would be open to having an oil pipeline pass through it to bring crude from Alberta to New Brunswick as long as the project served the interests of Quebecers, Premier Marois said in a statement Monday. She wouldn’t be opposed to the $5-billion dollar project, which also needs the approval of other provinces before going ahead.

Quebec was the only holdout among provinces between Alberta and Atlantic Canada that appear open to shipping western Canadian crude east. All premiers now appear onside.

A working group has been set up to examine what the technical, environmental and economic
implications of the project would be for Quebecers.

The project would mean transforming an existing natural gas line from Alberta to Montreal, then extending the line to Quebec City or Saint Jo

Lets make it happen. Then we could eliminate all imported crude. Refine more in Ontario and ship the gas south.

They have no problem having a pipeline run through Maine with no benefit to Maine and we take all the risks. So how dare they say they will approve a pipeline to another Canadian province so long as it benefits them (insinuating if it doesn't they won't go along).
