There are better technologies than gas and oil that are not even considered.

Funny shit, in RI I spent years cutting off gas services to houses that didn't' use it, and the same happened thru out the north east. A federal safety mandate... unused gas services to homes inactive for 5 years had to be permanently cut. So now .....

You have two choices, @TBRR. Don't live so far out in the woods or extend the gas line yourself.
Let's see some of that work ethic you keep spouting off about.

Natural gas and propane aren't the same, @rjoeh. Furnaces that burn one need a different burner if they switch to the other fuel. Those furnaces have blown up or caused bad fires when someone improperly converted them from propane to natural gas or vice versa.

Some call natural gas LPG or Propane. Both do the same job but do not need pipelines for delivery. Meanwhile, heating oil is also delivered in trucks and stored in local owned tanks. The Governor needs to remember that Gas is not the answer to energy costs but just one option in the mix.

this will work for awhile until the large scale exportation of lng begins in 2014.
gas companies want the customers and profit but don't want to absorb any of the costs of extending lines..... why is that?

it would be nice to have a gas line to my home. the closest one is a mile away with no plans to extend the line. stuck with propane.

Oil has to compete with natural gas, without regard to what any governor says.

atural gas is an excellent energy source for heating homes and businesses. I can't imagine those totals being so low as we have had over 80% of homes heated with natural gas for over 30 years and now there is an increasing amount being heated by geothermal heating systems.

yeah, i can see why the oil industry would be upset over people trying to cut costs in order to survive instead of continuing to pay their prices.
