Gas Prices Rising And Rising
Thursday, March 27, 2008
KTIV News Channel 4 -- Gas prices are expected to hit 4-dollars a gallon in some parts of the U.S. by Memorial Day.

Here in Siouxland, gas prices have stayed above three-dollars for about a month now with diesel prices inching towards four bucks.

So what can be done, if anything?

Everyday, the U.S. consumers use 20 million barrels of oil. That's a quarter of the world's over-all consumption. Economists at the University of South Dakota say demand for oil has increased in recent years due to the growth of India and China.

I just bought a new LCD HDTV.
Had to buy a top line Sony V series to get the quality I wanted, would have bought a USA made RCA but walmart destroyed them in the USA.
Now RCA is just junk.

-----------------------------------
The Walmart effect is a major reason why we are in this fuel crunch.
Send our jobs and money to china make them rich and up the demand for fuel.
-----------------------------------
We reduce our demand but china and india increase at a far greater rate.
-----------------------------------
Anyone that buys walmart JUNK and thinks it is the same quality needs to do more thinking.

There are areas on the north slope that are open for lease outside of ANWR that no one is drilling, use those areas.

I would rather pay $40 more per year in gas tax and have the roads repaired than buy $230 worth of tires because of bad roads.
Lost a tire (cut on a pothole) on my truck twice in the last 10 months.

I am sure TomT2Lee is just joking about buying a horse, but there was a story about the drought in the Southeast in which people with horses are giving them up because the drought makes it too expensive to keep them. Watering the horse is expensive and the feed and hay is more expensive due to the drought and due to fuel prices increasing the cost of farming.

Maybe horses are not the answer either. We can't go back because we got rid of the horse infrastructure.

The article advises "Economists say it's a simply supply and demand equation. Bring demand down, prices will follow. Last week, U-S gasoline consumption dropped by 3-percent".

The fact of the matter is that demand has come down, but then the refineries "tinker" with production to keep the price artificially high by limiting supply.

Well, it IS a global market, and lots of new players are competing for the oil... and the US dollar is weakening, so the price to us is going up and up and up...

I wonder if "W" has considered the impact of his 3/4 TRILLION DOLLAR war in Iraq on the value of a dollar... I doubt it, and besides, Dick Cheney still has his hand in "W"'s back making his lips move

My son is a marine in Arizona. He will probably fly home to visit. But if he gets stationed closer,i got him a mazda miata.I drive it and it gets 36 mpg.I also have a truck and it stays parked.i walk to the store.its only 2 miles away.I do feel for the elderly. They cant decide whether to pay their light bill, pay for medication, eat or pay for gas to get groceries or pay bills.I wish i could go into town for all of them. They cant walk 2 miles into town.

Unfortunately I don't think this is a bubble to burst & prices decline. $4 gas is nothing compared to here in Ontario where we're already just under $5 /gal. Cdn. I just hope it doesn't reach $6 in the spring run-up.

This article courtesy of the marketing department at Exxon/Shell/BP/Mobil/etc. It's not big oil's fault, it's the consumer causing this problem. Bulls**t!!!!!!!!

When all is said and done, we3'll be wising for $3.00 gas. We had a missionary in our church last night that has been to Ireland. Gas prices there average over $7.00 per gallon. Are we headed there?

There may be a little price war starting in Columbia, Tennessee. A new BP station opened with gas at 3.10/gal. Down from 3.19/gal. Many of the other stations are begining to follow.
