equivalent news already posted ... TWICE...
U.S. bans BP from new government contracts after oil spill deal Reuters -- The U.S. government banned BP Plc on Wednesday from new federal contracts over its "lack of business integrity" in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, possibly imperiling the company's role as a top U.S. offshore oil and gas producer and the No. 1 military fuel supplier.
The suspension, announced by the Environmental Protection Agency, comes on the heels of BP's November 15 agreement with the U.S. government to plead guilty to criminal misconduct in the Gulf of Mexico disaster, the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. The British energy giant agreed to pay $4.5 billion in penalties, including a record $1.256 billion criminal fine. (go to article)

EPA suspends BP from new federal contracts in wake of oil spill but will not affect current contracts or leases which are cruical to the company? What's wrong here – suspended is suspended, contracts or leases it doesn't matter! BP will pass on all company expenses to their customers. Don't mess with mother nature or you mess with the EPA and the federal government. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII!

Thank you @treeguy for bringing the sound of reason to this forum. Jeez, people! You make it sound like the EPA came in one night and pistol whipped your grandma and kicked your dog.
What's your plan to stop giant environmental screwups caused by oil and gas drillers or do you think the honor system will work just fine?

Why, @mstearno? Nothing else seemed to teach BP a lesson. Not billions in fines and not billions in cleanup costs. This sends a nice example to the other companies that cutting corners has consequences and having an army of lawyers on retainer doesn't guarantee that you'll be let off the hook with just a slap on the wrist.
This is no longer just "the price of doing business".

the epa should not have the ability to suspend anything, they should have the power to suggest actions ,but not actually do them. in other words the justice system, contract law should decide this .the epa is just unamerican as you can get while claiming to be protecting U.S. all from ourselves. : )did you hear about the epa giving big earl permits to make injection wells out of wells that their contracts are finished /overwith/completed. and our gov'ment is helping them turn peoples land into a dump sites for fracking waste.all witht he epa's blessing. so it's okay ithey turn your land into a lnadfill ,but not if anyone else does.
