Ag Processing Idles Ethanol Mill in Nebraska on High Corn Prices

Bloomberg -- Ag Processing Inc., a grains processor, said it shut operations at its ethanol plant in Hastings, Nebraska, because of high corn prices.

The plant was idled today, and the company will evaluate market conditions to determine when it will restart, Omaha, Nebraska-based Ag Processing said in a statement on its website.

Before Ag Processing’s announcement, 18 ethanol plants had been idled since June as drought in the Midwest scorched and shrank corn crops and raised costs to make the grain into ethanol, according to data from the Renewable Fuels Association, a Washington-based trade group.

With this drought, and the resulting low production/yields, the use of corn in ethanol simply drives the shortage causing food prices to go up...

What a shame!
Too bad a few prefer to rant and whine here rather than discuss this news article. You can thank big corporations like Archer Daniels Midland and a few other 'Corn Hucksters' for ethanol from corn CVA...

This won't matter to the EPA. At some point they'll just start fining the gasoline refineries when they run out of ethanol to create the mandated mixture--even though there is none to be had.

Even ethanol can't make a profit with high oil prices!!! It always amazes me that how ignorant people are about the corn used for ethanol though...

Ethanol in fuel is bad for the environment, our pockets and are gas powered engines. It is just bad policy. Too bad the corn lobby always gets their way with our elected officials. Now they are talking about E15.
