I cannot believe that there are enough stupid people to invest in such an enterprise -- only the government!

For $23,000 I can buy a new Corolla and drive 100,000 miles. Why would I want to spent $109,000. That's crazy.

How long before we get an electric vehicle that can pull a camper trailer or fifth wheel with a price that won't break the bank?

I agree with SS70...if you are going to main stream this why not make it affordable.

No Tesla for me.

Divide 109K by 10 and you are getting closer to reality.

How much will it cost per mile? cents per mile, since no gallons are used. Or kwh per mile.

Don't forget to include battery replacement costs. And anything else that is not normal for gasoline powered cars.

They need to make the e-cars more like "regular" cars. Comfortable, easy to drive, easy to maintain and easy to keep charged - without a mile long extension cord to plug into at a CONVENIENT charging station.

That's the roadster selling at that price.Bill Gates,Warren Buffet, and a few others would probably play with it. Wait and see what the regular cars run....

The Tesla is a nice toy for those who can afford it but does nothing to help with creating an economically viable electric car for the masses.

We need affordable electric cars, $20,000 or less for standard models. That is the only way everyone will want to switch to electric.

Think about all the gas you could afford for this kind of money, even if you drive a gas guzzler. Electric cars will go by the way side as soon as Cap & Tax is passed. Nobody will be able to afford the electric bill to charge them.

This new Tesla Model S is quite something. Price will need to decrease to make it an everyday vehicle. The company will also need to expand their manufacturing base or combine with a larger manufacturer. Read the FACTS about it by clicking here [Tesla Model STesla Model S

I applaud Tesla'a efforts, even if I cannot afford what they currently have to offer. Just imagine what they will be cranking out within a few years.

If Tesla wants to sell cars, they better come up with something around $9,000, not $109,000
