IT IS the seventh day of the Jewish month Nisan in the year 33 C.E. Imagine that you are observing events in the Roman province of Judea. Leaving Jericho and its lush foliage, Jesus Christ and his disciples are trudging up a dusty, twisting road. Many other travelers are also on their way up to Jerusalem for the annual Passover celebration. However, as Jesus' earthly life and mortal ministry are about to end, as the gospels teach, more than this tiring climb is on the minds of Christ's disciples.
Let's read this article together and learn more as we relive Jesus' last days on earth as seen through the pen of the gospel writers.

A Birth to Be Remembered

The shepherds then located Mary and her husband, Joseph, in a stable, just as the angels had indicated they would. Mary, who named the child Jesus, had laid him in a manger, or feeding trough, in the stable. (Luke 1:31; 2:12) Now, two thousand years later, about a third of all mankind professes to follow Jesus Christ. And the events surrounding his birth form the basis of a story that has likely been told more often than any other in human history.

In the link...Jesus and his disciples make their way to their favorite place, the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus goes a short ways to pray as he is in a great deal of distress and needs Jehovah's help. He petitions Jehovah in prayer, while his pain can be seen by the results of his sweat which is mingled with blood, reports the Bible; why, the very thought of failure causes him an agonizing amount of distress for this would heap reproach upon his father's name. Jesus came in the very "Name of Jehovah"....Jehovah had sent him as his "foremost ambassador". He needed strength from Jehovah to be able to endure Satan's scheming torture. He didn't just think of his own integrity...he prayed for his disciples too in the link to the Bible. Enjoy the link...

Jesus knew his disciples did not understand what was about to happen to him even though it was recorded in the scriptures, "prophesied about" even before he was born. Jesus quoted scripture after scripture but they wouldn't understand these sayings.

He prayed for the faithful 11 disciples spiritual preservation and their unity. He worked hard to help them understand "enough" so that they would recover from the sorrow of his death and look forward. He even visited them after he was resurrected, even though, he would never manifest the flesh of a human ever again. This would give them strength to keep preaching the "good news" even though the sacred secret was not completely understood by them...it was like looking through a smoky glass. At Pentecost they could "really for the first time" be reconciled to Jehovah without animal sacrifices but many would be slow to grasp this.

What I enjoyed about the link that was supplied was the simplicity of explanation that traced Jesus last days on earth.

What did others enjoy about the link supplied?

What strikes you as standing out in connection with the Lord's behavior while knowing he was living his last days on earth with his disciples?
