That's what we always do in the summer, but in the winter we need a refrigerator to keep the beer from freezing.

I had to deal with Telus today. I just kept repeating "The brand of modem doesn't matter. Put me through to 2nd level support" and she'd put me on hold and come back trying to tell me only Telus DSL modems work on their lines. I just said it over and over about twenty times and the last time she put me on hold for over 15 minutes, and 2nd level must have turned it on. I told her Thank you very much for listening. Goodbye.

When I sold extended warranties, they were renewable on an annual basis, the price just went up as units were older. We sold them on appliances of all kinds, and electronics as well. I wasn't aware Sears sold only 5 and out policies.
Seriously though, on most appliances they are a waste of time. It is, like I said, unfortunate you happened to end up with a lemon.

Well that is a bummer War!
I will continue to purchase from Sears when it makes sense as the only better tool in the industry is snap on. Anyways there are lemons everywhere, just have to hope for the best!

Sears doesn't make anything, WarGamer, and that includes Kenmore appliances. If you had that extended warranty on the fridge that was a lemon by the way, if the cost of repair was more than a replacement on a fridge that new they would have replaced the fridge.
Your fridge may have been made by Whirlpool, but could also have been made by LG, Electrolux, or Mabe Mexico. You could have purchased a fridge under a number of different names almost anywhere, and possibly had the same fridge.
Unfortunately, you ended up with a lemon, perhaps a deal could have been worked out for some credit towards a replacement had you politely approached store management at the time.
Still not sure what this has to with what is really a story about Sears catalogue order centre being sent overseas.

I disagree Wargamer, I've had their tools for over 20 years with absolutely no problems. I also bought a Kenmore stainless dishwasher, super silent and excellent. Not garbage!

I don't see a problem with saying it is Sears Canada that closed their catalogue call centre, and outsourced the operations to the Phillipines.
Treatment of the ex-employees is shabby, too. You have to have been there for 10 years to get a severance package. One employee is 3 months short of the 10 years, so gets nothing.

Heck, most of the time we talk to people from India named "Mike" with poor American accents. Have fun talking with them.

In this case the call center is of the old type 'in house' catalog office for a major retailer.

The call center business is the biggest scam perpetrated. They take all kinds of tax breaks and 'subsidized workers' and play them off for ever lower paid, less taxed overseas sites. Soon you'll hear India complaining when they start moving to Burma or Chad where there's no taxes, no regulations and you can pay slaves a peanut per day.
