The Federal Government is trying to lower taxes by lowering the GST this makes me feel they are on the right track. Now on the other hand the Ontario Liberals are adding to our tax burden by harmonizing the PST & GST this will result in the fact we will be adding 13% to a slew of necessary items that are currently exempt. Is this how you fight inflation? You would naturlly think lowering tax would be more benificial for the consumer especially those on fixed incomes. Please help me to understand their logic.

I find it amazing that people (myself included) want the "government" to do more (auto bail-outs, new roads, shorter hospital waits) and then get mad when the government tries to pay for these things the only way they can, TAXES. You can call them taxes or "service charges" or "user fees" (Alberta favourite) but they are still the only way that the government can pay for the services that we all want. Yes there are occasional screw ups by Civil Servants and even the occasional bit of corruption, but over all they are no better or worse than you or your neighbours. As a matter of fact they may be your neighbours. Is this the time to be "harmonizing" taxes? Maybe, but only if it results in a similar or lower overall tax burden.

It all depends what you buying . Some items have the GST added some only the PST most both are apply if its like in NS + NB its going up
