After researching since late last year, I am pretty convinced to buy a Mazda5 Grand Touring; perferably a 2012 model (maybe 2011). This will be my first foreign car I have ever own. And originally, I have not considered a Madza until I saw one at the mall on my way out (diplayed near the exit). So, I'm looking for owner feedback only.

- Can you list up to three (3) pros and three (3) cons of owning either of these models? Pros examples: what you like best or reasons to buy one. (Opposite for cons, of course.)
- If you had to replace you Mazda5, would you get another one?

Thank you.

Thanks Caniatt. Especially for the MPG! This is better than what Consumer Reports stated.

I've owned three of them so far (still have our 2010). They did not have a 2011 model year. Went from 2010 to 2012. I bought another in 2010 to not get stuck with the ugly that is the 2012 style.

Pros.... Handles great for what it is. I think it handles better than some cars to be honest. Have had no problems with them. Dealer gives us a loaner even for oil changes or routine service. Very affordable compared to other vans from the like of Nissan, Honda, etc... Gets pretty good gas mileage also. Saw 32mpg from Atlanta to Orlando with the wife, kids and luggage running around 70mph with the A/C on. Average about 23mpg around town. That's almost entirely city, stop and go traffic.

Cons.... Smaller than other makes vans but that's the point... Storage behind 3rd row is miniml. 3rd row leg room is minimal with 2nd row all the way back. Factory stereo SUCKS. No power sliding doors which may be a con to most but I actually like it. The doors are light and easy to operate. Can open and close way faster than any power unit. This may seem trivial also but there is no switch to control rear seat lighting from the driver area.

I'd get another one easily if they get rid of that wavy body style on the 2012 model. I love it. They are great driving vehicles and handle well. The good part is the 5 is based off the 3 and most of the suspension parts for a 3 fit the 5 also. I put a set of 18" Mazdaspeed wheels on my 5 and a set of Tri-Point engineering adjustable sway-bars. My 5 handles as well as or maybe even better than my 2006 Sentra Spec-V.
