General Motors Co. is recalling certain Chevrolet Sonic subcompact cars from the 2012 model year because some of them may be missing a front inner or outer brake pad.

In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the car maker said it became aware of the problem last month after a customer brought one of the cars to a dealership for service to correct brake noise. Mechanics found that a brake pad was missing.

The article stated that the pad fell off in shipping, because of a missing clip in the shipping container.

The most awesome part of this story is how there were no complaints about the actual braking ability of the cars!

Rewind to the Chevette and Citation that had trouble stopping with all 4 wheels, let alone 3 out of 4. LOL!

In other news: Honda recalled more than a million vehicles in 2011. Chevy recalled 21,000.

Hello driverBrem. I as the other GBs found this a bit hard to comprehend, so I found a site that void of response language not fit to print. I ran into a few items which just add to one's disbelief. First, GM will repair the 20-30 vehicles affected out of a total of 4,296 without charge. You mean to say that charging the customer was even considered!! The seoond item hit me that the workers assembling the brake assemblies (they come as a preassembled unit) are paid from $15.78 (entry level) to $28.00 an hour. It seems that regardless of salaries and benefits, this is not enough to about care what you are doing? I was brought up by parents who told me to care about EVERYTHING I did and to do my best. Without further comment, here is the article:

Unbelievable. Stupid, dumb, crazy. I suppose they may have noticed if the fuel tank was missing. Maybe.
