it has made little to know difference to travel to canada, yes you do need a passport to get in.

I'm likely to be headed for Niagara Falls in April. My wife just got her passport & she has not been to see the falls yet.

From what I know you dont need a passport to get into Canada but if you are trying to get back into the States you will need a passport.

Any border between the USA and Canada requires a passport. I was born and raised just outside of Niagara Falls Ontario, and have noticed that since the passport requirements came in to effect, that tourist traffic has declined dramatically. Nice place to visit, but with the decline in tourists, as a local, I find the stigma of 'tourist trap' overtaking the city. Do your research for everything, such as UrbanSpoon for eating just outside town to save some $, Travelocity for cheap accomodation...

Hi there Folks....A quick question to the posters from either side of Niagara Falls...
Im going to be staying in late October on the Canadian side of the falls (2 blocks from Clifton Hills)..Flying from Fl into Buffalo where I am picking up a rental car..I have already googled the area maps several times and at this point I have just a simple question for you the locals there.
What is the best route as far as sightseeing is concerned (longer or shorter distance doesnt count when you're on vacs)to get to my destination ??
Should I cross to Canada in Buffalo or should I do it at the Falls in NY State ???
Thanks for any help you can provide here.

Is that based on the economy, gas prices or on the changes in regards to passport requirements?

Canadian border casinos letting staff go. Business way down.

Update to the initial question at hand- Has the passport requirement had any effect on traveling to the preferred side of the Niagara Falls?

There is another thread on this topic, but you don't yet absolutely need a passport to get into the USA. They pushed that requirement back, again, until June 2009. Still no change on the requirements on getting into Canada from what I can tell. The above all relates to car travel BTW.

Not really enforcing anything new with autos. Try coming back into the US by train though. US customs goes through the train like Gestapo
