It's not about the poll, but rather, Cingular getting air time.

Nascar, and to some extent the IRL, is not "best driver and fastest car wins" type of racing. There are conditions and rules that keep everyone's favorite in the race until the end. Most people seem to like it that way. There's no mystery why the lucky dog thing is popular or why fans want unlimited for their drivers. Me, the yellow comes out (lights along track and in cars), everyone stays in line, looses their place if they pit, and single file re-start. I like to see the best car and driver out in front. I see nothing great in racing for 4 hours and then have a 1-2, .001 seconds appart, finish. But that's me.

The "lucky dog" is the WWF-ing of NASCAR.

There should be no lucky dogs. Racing is about competition, somedays are good and some are bad, everyone is in the same boat. How many other professional sports reward competitors when they go down- NONE! Its called the "agony of defeat". To the "Victor go the Spoils".

IF unlimited lucky dog passes remain then only those 1 or 2 laps down should be eligible. Beyond that many laps there are very few historical examples of a driver coming back to contend for or get a win. In reality, it should be one per driver (in my opinion).

I'm still of the opinion they should be allowed to race back to the caution, unless some kind of clear-cut danger is present.
That wasn't a popular opinion two years ago.

CJ, personally I think it should be ZERO, but . . . I can live with two. But I agree with you, one would be better, but I doubt that NASCAR would ever be that restrictive.

No Indy, I agree with kcar55, ONE should be the limit on the Lucky Dogs.

There should only be one lucky dog pass for each driver.

I believe you should only get maybe two lucky dogs in a race and not five that Kyle Busch got at Watkins Glenn to come from 5 laps down to a top ten finish. They should have a limit in order to make a driver earn there way back up the leaderboard and not be the first one a lap down.

I didn't believe those numbers, either. I'm uncomfortable with the "lucky dog" in general, but I can understand the benefit from a fan's point of view. But UNLIMITED? Get real! Two should be the absolute limit.
