Factory or aftermarket. If it does, is it a good predictor of your actual MPG?

probably at least one of them but then I never bothered to check as fuel economy is meaningless to me as we purchase our vehicles for functionality, reliability, safety, and comfort and precisely in that order of priority.

If the vehicle should get decent fuel economy in addition to meeting our need we consider it as a bonus and never the reason for purchasing.

yes, factory installed. I reads a little high, but is still a good estimator of gas mileage.

Factory. I have a 2014 Subaru Impreza 5 Door. It's always optimistic on estimated gas mileage. Usually it's about 2 MPG over (I've also seen it almost dead on and as much as 3.5 MPG over - depends on the driving). I keep track with my smartphone using Fuel Buddy, so I know what I'm really getting. It's still a great little car though. I think most people don't really track their mileage and TRUST what their car is telling them. Trust me, it's probably wrong.

Three do have MPG digital readers, one has aftermarket, all work fine. I keep their mode set for instant mpg most of the time, rather my driving habits/right foot have been trained way back when gas prices rose above a dollar per gallon.

I never try to compare my calculations against the indicators when refueling, that at one time did prove close results. The main thing is learning to train myself for economy driving by taking notice of how I work my engines energy levels in relation to motion and traffic terrain/surroundings.

It works for Me sometimes as a guilty meter, if I get off track, (lose economy)on a tank of fuel. It's somewhat of a choice game with fuel dollars, (tail-pipe waste)= extra refuel pump $$$ caused often by the "peddle Dance", both pedals.....and Me the driver!I would hope for an engine run time read-out, that could be reset each interval and for the 24hr period or longer, that's just Me.....
