Factory or aftermarket. If it does, is it a good predictor of your actual MPG?

@Garwoodv6 "However, I have been informed that topping off the tank like this will eventually ruin the vapor canister, so I have stopped doing that)"

True. I wish I could get that through the heads of NJ pump jockeys who, if I forget to tell them to fill to the first click, insist on topping up to the next whole dollar when I'm paying with a credit card.

Yes. 2012 Chevy truck w/5.3L V-8.

I made six 1500-mile cross-country trips crossing the Continental Divide (Rocky mountains), pulling a trailer on two of them. I always keep receipts w/ gallons purchased and log miles from last fillup on them. On these trips, the truck computer gallons used and MPG vs. my own receipt calculations was extremely accurate. Slight variances from tank-to-tank averaged out in the long run, so I attribute that to differing levels of top-off of the tank at fillup. On three consecutive fillups, I filled the tank until fuel remained at the top of the filler neck and hit the road. in this case, the truck computer and the actual purchase amount was exact to +/- 0.1 gallon. (However, I have been informed that topping off the tank like this will eventually ruin the vapor canister, so I have stopped doing that).

I don't drive much locally, so it takes a while to use up a tank of gas. In this case, the truck calculates less fuel consumed (and better fuel economy) than my actual gas purchased, but I think this may be due to evaporation- the longer it takes to go through a tank, the more fuel seems to "disappear" from the truck computer measurement.

Jeep Grand Cherokee does and it's very accurate against manual calculation.
